Artist Bio:
Over these God-given years, I have enjoyed a variety of educational, employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities. These include eight years of undergraduate and graduate years with a BS in art education from Indiana University of PA, 1959, and MS in art from Illinois State University, 1968. I’ve taught 22 years – 14 at the collegiate level in IL, NY, and OH; three in a California correctional facility; others include workshops, seminars, and private classes.
In 1959 I exhibited 24 framed watercolors in my first one-man show in Indiana, PA. For 52 years my work has been placed in private, corporate and institutional settings. My first business venture, Steeldrum Studio, opened in California in 1966. In 1996 my wife and I developed historic space into a consignment gallery in Mount Vernon, Ohio, making it operational and selling it to a partnership. From there we blossomed to Kudos Art Co-op and spent many years in the camaraderie of fellow artists’ displays and sales.
Life has slowed a bit in these senior years and my precious wife of 61 years passed in 2020 to go on to create in a most beautiful place I can only imagine. I spend these quieter days now enjoying and cherishing my family and friends. I continue to wonder at nature around me, and birds in flight, busily making their nests, or bantering at the feeder became subjects of wood carvings during these past few years. I have taught a few painting sessions at Danbury where I now reside and will most likely find many subjects to paint and sketch as I become more organized there.
Through the years I have enjoyed the sights, sounds, scents, tastes, and touch of land, sky, and water. Changing seasons as well as changes of climate and geography stimulate my soul. The power of the elements can be raw and terrifying or intimate and sheltering. I will always remain impressed with the I AM who created the vastness and the detail.
As my wall space has become more limited, my hope is that you will be able to find a work that speaks to you and that it will bless your home for many years to come. Pick your favorite among my wife and my expressions and enjoy!
